It’s cold outside, SUPER cold. It’s SUPER windy here too so I’m not doing much landscape painting. The other day I tried and it started snowing hard during the session. Always wanted to do some shoes for some reason, so tried my hand at pen and ink with watercolor…
There is a place nearby where I live called the Flower Center. Well, outside of it being a very beautiful place, there is a very old temple nearby. I’m not really sure how old it is, but it must be hundreds of years old. I went up to it and I was the only one there. The trees in the background were the hardest part, I don’t think I pulled this one off. Actually, I went there twice and the second was better, but I need to try it again one more time.
F4 Oil on Canvas, did this one in 3 1/2 hours.
Finished “A bowl of matcha”, oil on canvas. I decided to go for a not too bright blue-green background to complement the red checkered tablecloth.
Okay, I work in waves and the last 6 months my regular work has been insane. Finally picked up the brushes, here’s what I have so far.
Stage one – setting up a still life and laying it in. For this I’ve chosen to do a matcha bowl, can, and bamboo tea whisk and spoon.
I let that dry a week. No, it didn’t take a week to dry, I just couldn’t get back to it for a week. This is where I ended up after about 4 hours last night…
I’ve got to figure out what to do with that boring background, I’ll figure something out.
