Capturing the Essence of Urban and Rural Life Through Street Photography
I’m a bit reluctant to label myself as a street photographer as I don’t really like being put into boxes, but if I had to pick something, that label probably fits my style best. Street photography is complex and broad, capturing not just urban streets but candid moments of life and human behavior in various public spaces. This genre is characterized by its spontaneity and the ability to capture unique, ephemeral moments that often blur traditional boundaries. It vividly portrays the essence of human interaction, whether in the dynamic environments of cities or the more tranquil settings of rural areas. Urban scenes highlight diversity and vibrancy, whereas rural images often explore the relationship between people and nature.
Focus on Global Street Photography
Although I originate from Arizona, renowned for its picturesque rural landscapes, my photographic pursuits over the last few years are primarily focused on street photography in Asia, where I currently reside, particularly in Japan, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Below are sample images from various subjects and locations. In terms of equipment, I utilize both film and digital cameras about equally, selecting the most appropriate tool for each specific scenario and desired ambiance. Additionally, I personally develop all film photographs in my darkroom located in Japan.
