“Painted by the Rain” — Rainy Window Art from the Philippines

On a wet tropical night in the Philippines, the front window of a small neighborhood grocery became something close to a painting. This piece of rainy window art is seen through glass so thick with condensation and rain streaks that the store behind it melts into smears of red, cream and fluorescent white. Two small girls stand pressed close to the pane with their backs to the street, the only sharp, still point in a room that seems to be dissolving.

Capturing Rainy Window Art on the Leica M11

This frame was made on the Leica M11, and it depends on clarity in exactly the right places. The sensor holds the crisp edge of the window frame, the three bright price posters and the two children, while the fogged glass turns everything beyond them into soft, glowing color. That tension between sharp foreground and blurred interior is what gives this rainy window art its painterly depth. There was no light but the shop’s own fluorescents, spilling through the wet glass and out onto the pavement.

The Fogged Glass: A Painterly Rainy Window at Night

A Window That Paints Itself

The condensation does the brushwork. Red shelving bleeds into drips that read like watercolor, a metal rail becomes a dark ink line, and the figures inside, an older boy and a woman at the counter, turn into soft, half-remembered shapes. It is rainy window art made by the weather as much as by the camera.

Everyday Low Prices Above the Rain-Soaked Glass

Across the top of the window hang three red posters promising “Everyday Low Price, Guaranteed High Quality” for milk, coffee and snacks. Their crisp graphics float above the dreamlike haze below, an ordinary note inside a scene that feels almost otherworldly.

Rain-Slicked Pavement Beneath the Window

The bottom third of the frame belongs to the street: a dark curb and a sidewalk still shining from the rain. That band of shadow frames the glowing window like a stage and keeps the viewer outside, looking in.

Why This Rainy Window Art Belongs on Your Wall

For collectors drawn to quiet, cinematic street photography and to images that blur the line between photograph and painting, this is rainy window art with a real place and a real night behind it. It brings the glow of a tropical evening into a room, calm, colorful and a little mysterious, and it rewards a long look, as new shapes surface from the fogged glass the longer you stand with it.

Print Details

  • Listed sizes refer to the paper size, not the image. Each print is centered on the sheet with a 1 to 2 cm border for framing.
  • Because image proportions vary, the picture may not fill the entire sheet — a square image, for example, fills the paper’s shorter side (minus the border), leaving an unprinted margin along the longer edges. This is intentional and preserves the full, uncropped composition.
  • Custom Sizes Available Upon Request.

Shipping Information

  • Worldwide shipping from Japan.
  • Japan Post EMS Express Mail (FedEx available upon request).
